Larry Friddle's freeware Frisco Fort Smith Sub Route is an excellent route for the SwitchList Generator program: all switches are manual (can be operated by the player), and there are no signals to deal with. The route is extremely true to the prototype. It still exists today, as the Arkansas and Missouri (running all Alco locomotives!) With Larry's permission, I have created, and posted to this web site, a template that will allow folks with the SwitchList Generator program to create a nearly endless variety of switching activities for this great route. Click here to download. There was a minor problem with the way the route was set up. Some of the siding markers weren't long enough to fit a car, or it wasn't clear where the "official" siding marker was. So I extended these so players could get "credit" for setouts, and I also named (put siding markers on) some sidings and yard tracks that weren't named in the original route. So I've also uploaded a "Version 1.1 Update" for this route, again with Larry Friddle's permission. Craig Kawahara created a fantastic schematic for this route, which comes with the route. With Craig's permission, I have modified that schematic, and am supplying it with the Version 1.1 Update. It will also be installed automatically, in the "Documentation" folder of the route, when you install the update. Get the update, needed to run the template and some activities I'm writing which I'll post soon, by clicking here. Note: there is another update for this route out on www.train-sim.com by Jonathan Thrasher. That update has been tested with SwitchList Generator, and the SwitchList Generator patch/update, and has been found to work fine. However, this update adds more complex textures and may not work on some machines, due to limits on RAM and resources. If you can successfully install this update, and run it, then you should be able to run the SwitchList Generator template with it. In my test case, I installed the original route first, THEN the "Version 1.1 Update" for SwitchList Generator, THEN Jonathan Thrasher's update. Happy Railroading!
